An Introduction
Married to Amy have 4 boys, Marty, Brad, Kurt and Ben.
I have been working in the health care sector since 1988, as well as, part time in the entertainment industry.
I have done everything in health care, from care assistant to area manager. I qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1991.
In 2004 I suffered burnout, which led to a breakdown and as a consequence I allowed my registration to lapse and never renewed, something I majorly regret. This did not, however stop me from caring, I kept up to date with all the happenings in health care and as much as possible refreshed my knowledge and skills by taking courses relevant to health care.
I am at a very frustrating crossroads of my life, working for a company with whom I do not share the same values and ethos. I am desperate to renew my nmc pin without success. I have to find a placement outside of the NHS who can offer me a sign off mentor, so I can access a return to practice course.
Although my job is purely one to one work with a gentleman who has severe learning difficulties and schizophrenia, I still keep my care/nursing skills refreshed by working in care homes as and when, also visiting care homes and performing for the residents. This is frustrating for me as I go into many homes, too many to mention over a period of six months or so and see care not given to the high standard I expect, I get fed stories given internally of interpersonal wrangling at the detriment of resident care.
Every time I apply for a post of seniority from unit manager upwards, the post has been given internally, which will hardly change the systems from within (a new broom sweeps clean)
I need to get back into a senior post within the care industry so I can fulfil what my hearts desire is saying, OUR FOLKS OF THE SEVENTH AGE NEED MORE.
My blog is just my way of saying, this is what I know, this is what I do, this is what you can have, if you just take the chance and hire me to put things right. If you think you already have the perfect residential home with no problems then ignore this, however, I am sure that 90% of homes are lacking in some form or another, if they think they are not they are deluded.
I will be updating my blog with all sorts of care related issues, I guarantee that everyone will recognise something or some one within the subject matter posted.
I would like to thank you for popping by, enjoy my blog, I hope it will not only entertain you but will also be instructive and informative
